INK361 x AMPt Network presents @gummyting
Bio: Hi, my name is Rose Sauquillo aka @gummyting. I’ve lived in Toronto forever but never really “discovered” my city or surroundings until Instagram. I’m a Creative Director/Art Director with a lovely little family who tolerates my photo habit. I’m hopeless at knitting or Sudoku so mobile photography is my way to relax – it breaks up a crazy day, and encourages me to see things differently.
Description: The original photo was taken at the Canadian National Exhibition, a fun annual carnival in Toronto that’s been part of my end of summer ritual since childhood. I wanted to capture the magical feeling of being in an amusement park, inspired by seeing how much fun my son was having. I’d been waiting for the right shot to post with Mextures and this felt right.
Process: Shot with iPhone native camera. In Vscocam, adjusted brightness and colours of single ferris wheel shot. Saved to photo library. Imported 2 of this same shot into Image Blender. Arranged the shots so one was offset to the right. Adjusted the opacity of the 2 layers. Saved blended shot to photo library. Imported the Vscocam shot and the blended shot again into Image Blender. Arranged the shots to create the 3 layered ferris wheels. Adjusted the opacity of the 2 layers. Saved to photo library. Opened shot in Mextures. Cropped to square. Added Fire Fire Fire because it has a nice combination of colour/light variations to add some depth and grit/grain to soften the shot’s bright colours. Then added The 80s just because I’m an 80s freak.
